Fractured Armour - The internal conflict between the desire to hide and the urge to reveal one’s true self. The textured concrete surface represents the armour we construct to shield ourselves from vulnerability—built from layers of emotional defences, fear, and repression. Deep cracks in the surface symbolise moments of fragility, when these barriers begin to break down.
We all wear armour to protect the most tender parts of ourselves. But over time, life creates cracks — not to break us, but to reveal the beauty, truth, and strength that lie within. It’s in those fractures we find not weakness, but the courage to be seen.
This piece was inspired by the internal conflict many of us face—the tension between protecting ourselves from the world and the deep desire to be seen for who we truly are. This artwork is a reflection of that quiet battle, told through texture, colour, and contrast.
This artwork evokes introspection, strength, and a sense of emotional release. The cracked textured surface represents protective layers built over time—barriers formed by fear, trauma, or uncertainty. Yet, within the fractures, bursts of colour emerge like hidden light, suggesting hope, authenticity, and healing. It’s a visual reminder that beauty and truth often lie just beneath the surface.
I created Fractured Armour during a time of personal reflection. I wanted to capture how even the strongest “walls” we build eventually shift or break, and within that fragility, our most authentic selves are revealed. The gold metallic vein running through the artwork represents the resilience that grows from allowing ourselves to be seen, even in our most unguarded moments.
